For this project we were asked to create a digital story based on monologues from a film, poem or nursery rhyme. I created a digital story based on the rhyme from Nightmare On Elm Street.
I wanted to display the disturbing and creepy feeling that is felt from the film so I wanted to convey the images as dark and shadowy with the animation of the typography fading and blurring out so it was unclear.
I used photocopying continuously to degrade the quality of the typography and the scanned in the more distorted text. I found this gave a good effect as the text is more scattered with the pixels and is less readable.
For this project I have used final cut pro to edit my audio as well as having to use Garageband, which I found difficult to use at first because I had not used it before but feel I have improved using the software.
I think my time management could have been put to better use, I found myself having to rush with parts of my work as I had not exported some of my work and thus had to redo crucial elements of my work which reduced the time spent on other areas. Which I needed to do so I could produce more professional work, which I could be happier with the end results.
But I do like the final product I think the simplicity and the creepiness matched the audio with the typography slowly fading in and out adds to the eeriness of the digital story.
If I were to change anything I would make sure I was fully aware of my time which I could have handled a lot better, however I think my time keeping has improved from the last project and have become more aware of my schedule because of university interviews and although I found this project to be one of the most stressful due to different circumstances I did enjoy creating and editing the digital story.
